French Dual Language Program

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

Students can study French as beginners and as advanced speakers of French at International Studies. Our method of creating a better and more peaceful world is through the study of language as a way to celebrate and respect cultural perspectives that will empower balanced future leaders. Our focus is to enhance student understanding and experience of language by meeting students where they are, whether they are beginners or advanced, we aim to increase their proficiency to build a community of bilingual speakers, readers, and writers.

By increasing language proficiency for all learners we aim to create an inclusive and collaborative school culture.  French has been taught to beginners since 2013 and will expand with the Dual Language Program to incorporate fluent speakers starting Fall 2015 for the 6th grade. The 9th grade program will begin Fall 2016.

Through our partnership with the French Embassy and the Smith Street Workshop, participants receive a curriculum shaped by IB and extended days for extra courses in French Literature and History.
